feels weird the difference between nomad and high explorer is only put at 160 elo difference
I’d assume it might be a little more in the future? I’m not really sure tbh
A 160-point gap means the favorite wins ~71.5% of games.
So the revamp is claiming: an 8,000 Nomad beats a 4,000 high Explorer about 5 games in 7.
i mean if youre sure
Could you share more info on how did you measure the honest rating?
Jesse I guess you were right in the beginning 0.o
How did you approximate it so well?
high iq
I have a recurring problem: I have an Elo rating of over 4,500, yet in 99% of my matches, I’m paired with players who have much lower ratings between 1,500 and 2,500 at most. The issue is that I might win five or six games in a row, gaining only 6 to 12 Elo points each time, but then a single loss costs me around 40 points. Basically, one defeat wipes out the progress made from five or six consecutive wins, making it very hard to climb the ranks. Will this new system help balance the matchmaking, or will it stay the same?
It’ll help balance it by not inflating and deflating the ELO, and instead taking it from you or the opponent during a win or loss. (this is my opinion but I don’t know)
this is what the change is going to be
ehh youll face high voyager and low nomads after btw i think cuz matchmaking starting at 100 elo above and below you
Yeah I have the exact same problem
Yes it would, This system will ensure a fairer distribution of player
As gautam mentioned above, In theory if you play someone 160 elo below you and you win 7/10 games against them, your elo will remain roughly unchanged, since thats what you are expected to do. If you perform better than these expecations your elo will increase, otherwise it falls.
In the new system if you want to progress the elo ladder, your skill level must increase. Just playing for weeks without any improvement will lead to elo stagnation or decay if other players improve
will prob just lead to lower rank or percentage
I think the new matchmaking is a dynamic model, with starts at a certain elo range ( for example 50 elo either side) , and slowly expands until an opponent is found.
All inflated players are going to go down in the ranks as the underrated players rise, After a while, the rankings will roughly depicted the true skill level of players.
yes i know i was just guessing 100 elo could gautam answer
Im going to be a 1k in the new system! Played for the first time since March cause of this.
