the new elo system is meant to be a better measure of skill but mathematically you lose more elo than u gain. lets say there is someone who is 100 elo lower than u and 100 elo higher than u. losing to the person who is 100 elo lower than u will make u lose more elo than the elo you would gain if u won against someone 100 elo higher than u. this difference is negligible but makes grinding much more tedious and makes it harder to get better. what do yall think Abt this?
No, it shouldnt be reworked. This represents skill. If you are asking to make it “easier” to fake your skill, thats just going to lead to the same inflation. If you want to increase your elo:
- Learn Metas. & Actually Improve.
this is what I like about the new system, as going up the ladder is progressively harder, so only skilled players can make real progress not just players with a ton of time. At the same time, you will eventually have to play more to gain the same amount of elo as otherwise player’s elo will blow up massively and there will be a huge difference between a pro and a basic player (e.g. 20k:1k in the earlier system) which may discourage beginners from pursuing the game. Also this shouldn’t change the relative progress of your rank as even other players will face the same difficulty as you.
If it is true that you lose more elo from the same elo difference, then it would make sense that it shouldn’t be the case. But I still think that difference is negligible, and that no rework is required.
