Alternative accounts should be banned in because they make the game unfair. When high elo players create new accounts with low ELO, they get matched against weaker players and gain an unfair advantage. This ruins the competitive experience, affects rankings, and makes the game less enjoyable for everyone. Banning alt accounts would help keep matchmaking fair and protect the integrity of the game.

The problem with IP is that, for example, my sister also plays sometimes worldguesser on her account. And its the same IP adress.

Specifically regarding, a combination of several methods would be most effective:
rapid Elo calibration for new accounts,
statistical analysis to detect smurfs,
the ability for players to report suspicious accounts,
manual verification by moderators before a ban is issued.
This approach limits the number of alt accounts while simultaneously reducing the risk of unfairly banning honest players.

The new ranked system makes new players play 40 or so games (1st against a bot) to determine the ELO of people.

i mean banning innocent people isnt a big concern with alts. they can just play on their main or appeal stating what their main is

i also have a similar issue. i never go online without a vpn, and the vpn i use surely has other people on it. i feel that it’d be unfair to be banned because i played on the same ip as another person who plays worldguessr.

Also any way to check for alt account is really easy to bypass, you can use vpn, proxy, etc + change browser/device, there is no way reliably check
And also there’s def gonna be so privacy revolution if you’re collecting ips for ts
